The short version. The bottle tracker itself collects nothing personal about you. There are no accounts, no cookies set by us, no advertising trackers, and no analytics that follow you anywhere else. You can read the whole site without telling us who you are.
The one place we do collect personal information is the optional SMS alert waitlist, where you choose to give us your name, mobile number and date of birth. That is covered in detail below.
buffalotracebottledrops.com is an independently operated hobby project that tracks publicly posted bottle availability at the Buffalo Trace Distillery gift shop in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Buffalo Trace Distillery or Sazerac Company, Inc.

If you only browse the site, we do not ask for or store any information that identifies you. Specifically:
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages get read. It is cookieless and does not fingerprint or follow visitors between sites. We see totals — how many views a page got, roughly where visitors came from, desktop versus mobile — not individuals.
The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address in order to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse and denial-of-service attacks. This is ordinary infrastructure logging that happens for any website behind a CDN, and is handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not use these logs to build profiles of visitors.
Some page assets load from other companies' servers. When that happens, your browser reveals your IP address to them, as it does for any site using the same services:
| Service | What it is |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, CDN, bot protection, analytics |
| Google Fonts | Typefaces used across the site |
| cdnjs (Cloudflare) | Chart.js, the charting library used on the Analytics page |
| Venmo | Only if you click the optional tip link |
We receive nothing back from these services about you individually.
This is optional and separate from using the tracker. If you choose to join it, we collect:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| First name (and last name, if you give it) | So messages and support replies aren't anonymous |
| Mobile phone number | To send the alerts you asked for. This is the whole point. |
| Date of birth | To verify you are 21 or older. Text message programs about alcohol are required to verify age, and a checkbox is not sufficient. It is kept as the record of that check and is never used for marketing. |
| Sign-up date and time, IP address, browser user agent, time zone | To prove when and from where you consented, if that is ever questioned |
| The exact consent wording shown to you | So there is a permanent record of precisely what you agreed to, even if the wording later changes |
Messages are delivered by Twilio, which necessarily processes your phone number to deliver them, under its own privacy terms. Sign-up records are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure. No one else receives your information.
We keep your record while you are subscribed. When you reply STOP or ask to be removed, we stop messaging you immediately and mark your record inactive. We retain a suppression entry — your number and the fact that you opted out — so that you are never accidentally re-added without asking us to be. If you want your record deleted entirely rather than marked inactive, email us and we will do it.
The tracker is free and is intended to stay free. The SMS alerts are currently a free waitlist. If a paid option for the alerts is ever offered, this is how payment information would be handled:
This policy would be updated, and anyone already on the list notified, before any such change took effect. Nobody on the waitlist would be charged for anything without separately and knowingly subscribing.
This site concerns alcohol product availability. It is intended for adults of legal drinking age. The SMS alert program is restricted to people 21 years of age or older and to United States mobile numbers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe someone underage has signed up, email us and we will remove the record.
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. If the change materially affects people already on the SMS list — for example, a new use of their information — they will be notified before it takes effect.
